Cafe SOLO
Today I had a meeting with my friends at “Cafe Solo”. This is a very nice cafe. The music was not so loud and the atmosphere was very friendly. I even thought they might have lowered the volume as they noticed my sleeping baby in the stroller. One of my friends noticed the same. During our visit, it was lounge music, which was different from my first visit. During the first visit, we were feeling like in Cuba and were sitting next to the barrel. Seems like they can catch the mood of visitors.
I was leaving the stroller not far from our table. Nobody awakened my sleeping baby. I had a lot of time to talk with my friends. Barista and waiter were the same people. Just one person works there, though he was ready to answer any question. We asked about offers and prices for desserts. Sometimes in cafes in Spain there are very good offers, do not forget to ask about them. He answered all of them and finally, we ordered two coffee with milk, one cappuccino, and three croissants. Later I realized that there is a menu on each table and he could easily send us to read it but he was calm and patient with million questions of us. When my baby awoke, we created one more order: a cup of milk with cacao and a croissant for her. Barista was fast with our orders.
The coffee was delicious. It was nice in many ways. It looked and tasted great. My cappuccino had a very delicious cacao on top. The croissants were fresh and crunchy. We enjoyed the service a lot. We had not tried the food they offer. I will share details about the menu a bit later.
This cafe is not so big. But it has different areas inside. Green plants and small details make this place look special. Just six tables in the main room and one outside. But some of the tables are different. One of the tables is made of a wooden barrel. It gives a special charm to the room. You can feel yourself like a pirate or an old movie character. One table is high like a bar counter and has bar chairs. it’s located next to the window, which adds a romantic atmosphere. Sitting on those chairs you can day dream about anything. While looking outside through the window on a big street with a large intersection and an expanse. Honestly, this window is so huge that gives a lot of light and visually expands the space inside. You can enjoy it from any part of the cafe.
This place is cozy and peaceful for a hundred percent enjoyment. Plants in the exterior make this place outside look like a beach cafe from an exotic country. A bar counter and chairs are adding more desire to relax. I think that smoking people in love with it. In the cafe there was no special place for coats, but it seems like it’s not necessary in Spain. Nobody’s cares because not so many cold days during the year. In some cases, it is safer to keep them with you, as unfortunately there is a lot of thieves in Barcelona.
In the corner, they have a shelf with books and chess. This place is conducive to spending a lot of time there. We spent there two hours and a half, and the place did not annoy us. I wish to come back there one day just for playing chess. I think it will be a great time there. Today this game helped my baby not become bored. She was playing in her way, but this does not matter a lot. She was quiet, and we both were happy. The most popular reason for fast leaving places immediately after getting a cup empty is a bored baby. I think this was not a surprise for you. All the books are on the shelf in Spanish or Catalan. A big choice of them for local people. So you have to have your book with you if you want to read in another language.
Even with a very limited place, they have two toilets. They both were clean. Just one sink but this is not a big trouble. Let`s remember that place is not big and not a big crowd of people can fit in. Next to the sink, there is some art and flowers. It adds comfort and warmth. Honestly, there is one more piece of nice art on one of the walls and you can come along and enjoy it. It has an entrance to this cafe. You can dream a little that you get inside this picture and stay in another reality. The details are drawn very well.
Want to share some details of the menu. Coffee prices start from 1.5 euros. Also, they have other drinks and juices. To eat they have sandwiches and bowls. Mini sandwiches cost 2 euros, the usual size sandwiches cost 5 and 5,5 euros and bowls 6,5 euros. Also different desserts as well from 1,30 euro. We did not try their waffles but on my first visit, I ate a very delicious cake. Honestly was a bit sad that they had not any cake when I come the second time. The prices are average for similar cafes. We paid 14 euros for the 4 of us.
I would like to pay special attention to the presentation of dishes. Even the croissant was served as an exquisite cake. For such a small place, they desire an excellent assessment. I would love to come back there again and again.
They have wi-fi and they are friendly with dogs. You can take coffee away. They have a good location in my opinion. Do not miss this place at big crossroads. If you want to find it on google maps by name it is necessary to type “Cafe SOLO”. Because the name is not unique.
