A Candid Exploration of InterContinental Fujairah Resort’s Allure and Drawbacks. Honest Review Inside!

Greetings, fellow wanderers! Join me in this detailed exploration as I recount the extraordinary moments from my recent escape to the InterContinental Fujairah Resort. As a Canadian adventurer seeking solace on the sunlit shores of the UAE, this resort unfolded a tapestry of experiences—each woven with care and crafted to leave an indelible mark on my travel diaries.

Check-in/Check-out Rating: 4.8/5.0

The check-in process, masterfully conducted by the affable Amal(Her short name, as we have forgotten her real name as it was a bit long), set the stage for an impeccable stay. From securing an early check-in to surprising us with a room upgrade to a suite and breakfast discount, her attention to detail was commendable.

Lounge Review Rating: 4.8/5.0

The lobby at InterContinental Fujairah Resort is a visual feast, a harmonious blend of sophistication and warmth. Stepping into this space felt like entering a sanctuary where luxury meets genuine comfort. However, what truly etched this experience into my memory was the hidden gem—the breathtaking balcony adjoining the lobby.

As my eyes traced the contours of the lobby, I couldn’t help but be captivated by the elegant design choices and the seamless integration of local culture. The lobby was not just a passage; it was an invitation to immerse myself in the rich history and allure of Fujairah. Plush seating beckoned, creating pockets of coziness that invited lingering conversations or moments of quiet reflection. We end up spending more time in the lobby/lounge area that we usually do. It was a treat.

The adjacent balcony that stole the show. Upon stepping outside, I was greeted by an expansive view that unfolded from the glimmering pools to the endless expanse of the Gulf of Oman. The balcony wasn’t just an extension; it was a private oasis within the grandeur of the resort. The carefully arranged seating became my chosen spot for morning coffees, leisurely reads, and mesmerizing sunset views. It seemed most guests have missed the existence of this balcony, which was to our luck and now you know about this hidden secret.

Room Rating: 4.8/5

Our suite, a haven of contemporary elegance, surpassed expectations. The king-sized bed beckoned after a day of exploration, while the expansive living area doubled as a luxurious space for relaxation. The living area had a very large sofa that we could have two adults sleeping on it comfortably. It might be a great fit for family with kids to enjoy a suite, and not having to book two different rooms. The balcony, a private retreat, featured a sunbathing couch and a coffee table, providing the perfect vantage point for panoramic views of the pool and the azure sea.

The bathroom in the Suite was a sanctuary within a sanctuary. The generous proportions allowed for a spacious standing shower and a luxurious tub, offering options for both quick refreshment and leisurely indulgence. The quality of toiletries, coupled with the meticulous attention to cleanliness, heightened the sense of opulence. It had a change area and a large dressing area.

Service Rating: 4.8/5.0

The InterContinental team orchestrated our special occasion with precision, from personalized cakes to a stocked minibar. The towel attendant at the pool, a beacon of efficiency and smiles, deserves special mention. He was delivering towels and cold water even before asking, as if he is reading your mind. Breakfast was a symphony of efficiency, with made-to-order delights arriving promptly at our table.

Every interaction with the staff, from the concierge who helped us plan our day to the waiters who served us delicious meals, was positive and memorable. They were always willing to go the extra mile to ensure our stay was enjoyable and stress-free.

Breakfast Rating: 4.9/5.0

The breakfast spread, an opulent affair, unfolded a gastronomic journey. Made-to-order dishes, from perfectly cooked omelets to savory dosas, showcased the culinary prowess of the kitchen. We have tried the egg benedict is a much smaller portion that other places (you might want to order four instead of two), but it was decent.

The atmosphere, bathed in morning sunlight, offered stunning views of the beach and pool. The attentive staff ensured our coffee mugs were never empty, providing a personalized touch to the overall dining experience.

. The service at breakfast was amazing. Custom made to order dishes kept flowing to the table quite quick and the coffee was customizable to our liking (extra hot, coconut milk, soya milk, and so on). Nothing seemed to be too much for the waitresses and coffee team.

Amenities Rating: 4.8/5.0

Swimming Pools: The jewel of the resort, the infinity pool, offered a postcard-perfect view of the beach. Everyone flocked to the infinity pool to enjoy the view, leaving the adult pool as a serene escape for couples seeking tranquility. Never thought I will ever say that, but try the family pool too as it is nice and was less crowded than the infinity pool, and it has an amazing view of the mountains. The variety in pool options catered to different preferences, from vibrant socializing to quiet relaxation.

SPA: Our stay included complimentary access to the spa—an added indulgence that elevated our experience. The spa, with its elegant design and soothing ambiance, promised a retreat for the senses. While the segregated spaces for men and women were a minor drawback, the Jacuzzi, steam room, and rain shower made up for it. . I don’t mean to be too picky, but the Jacuzzi was on the smaller size, but the steam room and rain shower were amazing. I can’t complain as this came at no extra cost. We did not get to try the spa treatments, but I assume we missed a great treat, as the place was just out of this world.

GYM: The hotel had a decently-sized and equipped gym. It will make those gym enthusiasts happy, although we had no time to really use it with all the water activities and running on the beach taking most of our time.

Green Area: The resort’s meticulously landscaped green area served as a visual delight, connecting various facilities and offering breathtaking views. The nightly fire shows added a touch of enchantment, turning the space into a mesmerizing spectacle. Amazingly decorated water fountains were spread all over the resort and fire torches were light up over those fountains at night transferred the place into a sight you won’t want to miss!

Outdoor Activities: The resort has a variety of outdoor activities in addition to the endless choices of water activities, it has Tennis courts, small soccer courts, and archery.

Beach: The sandy stretch of the beach was a pristine haven, inviting us to unwind and savor the sun-soaked afternoons. The perfect water temperature and clear visibility made it an ideal spot for snorkeling. The underwater world near the rocks revealed a vibrant marine ecosystem, with colorful fishes gracefully swimming in the crystal-clear waters.

Kids & Teenage Club: While we didn’t have little ones in tow, a quick peek into the kids’ club showcased a vibrant space filled with joyful activities. The teenage club, doubling as an indoor bar for adults, demonstrated the resort’s versatility in catering to different age groups. The pools and Karaoke stage in the teens club had took us back to our teenage years in no time.

Restaurants, Bars, and Cafes: The resort boasts an array of dining options, each offering a unique culinary experience

NAMA: The main restaurant, NAMA, not only provided a picturesque view of the ocean but also allowed guests to dine al fresco. Our experience at NAMA was limited to breakfast, where the extensive buffet left us spoiled for choice.

Horizon: Serving as a lobby lounge and bar, Horizon exuded a romantic ambiance. Our brief visit for a quick coffee and pastries left a positive impression of a cozy spot to unwind.

Drift: This seafood kitchen and bar offered a tempting menu complemented by a stunning beachside setting. While we opted to explore seafood restaurants across the street, Drift garnered positive feedback from fellow guests.

The comprehensive selection of dining venues within the resort ensures that every culinary desire is met. From the ambient NAMA offering ocean-view dining to the cozy Horizon, the resort promises a culinary journey that transcends the ordinary.

We recommend you don’t limit your options to the hotel restaurants, as we have tried couple of restaurants across the street from the hotel that were amazing and very affordable. We recommend you try them too. We will provide a more detailed review of Estacoza Seafood restaurant and Kabab al Bastakiah in later posts. Highly recommended though

Location Rating: 4.9/5.0

Situated in the heart of the Aqah Beach resorts area, the location proved to be a strategic choice. Surrounded by neighboring resorts, the area provided easy access to a plethora of facilities and dining options. The absence of direct public transport necessitates a rental car for exploration.

Reward Program Appreciation: 4.9/5.0

As part of the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) Program, the resort extends several perks to its guests. We enjoyed a significant room upgrade to a suite, a generous 4 PM late check-out, and, though not complimentary, a steep discount on breakfast. The ability to earn points and redeem rewards further sweetened the deal.

Drawbacks:

  1. Price Points: While the InterContinental Fujairah Resort offers a premium experience, it comes at a cost. The accommodation, dining, and additional services can be on the higher end of the price spectrum. It’s essential to be mindful of your budget, especially if you’re planning an extended stay.
  2. Seasonal Surge: The resort’s popularity can lead to increased prices during peak seasons. Booking during holidays or special events might significantly elevate the overall cost of your stay. Planning ahead and checking for off-peak times could help you snag a better deal.
  3. Transportation Challenges: The resort’s location in Aqah Beach, while picturesque, poses challenges in terms of accessibility. The absence of a metro or train service means you’ll likely need a car. If you’re coming from Dubai or Dubai Airport, taxi fares can accumulate, making transportation costs a factor to consider.
  4. Slightly Smaller Jacuzzi: The spa area offers a relaxing experience, but the size of the Jacuzzi might be a bit smaller than some guests anticipate. This could be a minor point for those who enjoy a more spacious spa experience.

It’s important to note that while these drawbacks exist, they are part of the overall package that the InterContinental Fujairah Resort offers. Each guest’s priorities and preferences vary, so what might be a drawback for some could be inconsequential for others. Consider these points in the context of your own travel preferences and priorities.

Summary: In the heart of Fujairah’s coastal paradise, the InterContinental Fujairah Resort emerges as a haven for discerning travelers. From the seamless check-in experience to the diverse culinary escapades and the diverse array of pools, the resort crafts an experience that transcends expectations. The lush greenery, coupled with the enchanting fire shows, adds a touch of magic to the surroundings. Whether you seek a tranquil retreat or an adventure-filled beachfront escape, this resort promises a symphony of experiences.
